TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the state law, in relation to making
sweet corn the state vegetable
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL :
To establish sweet corn as the official vegetable of New York State.
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS :
Amends the State law by adding a new section 88 designating Sweet Corn
as the official vegetable of the state of New York.
JUSTIFICATION :
Sweet corn is one of the leading agricultural produce in the state of
New York producing $70 Million in cash receipts in 2005 and is the
lead fresh produce vegetable sold in New York State.

FISCAL IMPLICATIONS :
None.
EFFECTIVE DATE :
This act shall take effect immediately.

TITLE OF BILL : An act to amend the agriculture and markets law and
the New York state urban development corporation act, in relation to
the planning and development of urban greenmarkets
PURPOSE OR GENERAL IDEA OF BILL : Makes provisions on planning and
development of regionally based urban greenmarkets.
SUMMARY OF SPECIFIC PROVISIONS : Amends subdivision 1 of section 260
of the agriculture and markets law by including greenmarkets in its
provisions, amends the New York state urban development corporation
act by adding a new section 16- I
JUSTIFICATION : In this time of attempting to revitalize cities and
urban areas it is desirable to bring the products of farmers and craft
businesses into the city to allow them to sell directly to the
customer.
