As many of you know already, I work with an high-functioning autistic child on Saturdays in Delmar. It's always an challenging to work with him as he seems so normal until he starts repeating himself about some non-sensible matter. He seems to understand the world different then most of us and when he gets angry it can be difficult to work with him.
Autism is something we need to learn more about. Autism may unlock many secrets to the human psyche and even explain mental illness. Autistic people have problems understanding the world and communicating back in ways that we can understand. They don't always understand human emotion or all the things we say without speaking.
We rarely say things as words, we rarely verbalize our thoughts and feelings. Yet, if you can't understand what our symbols mean then you really can not understand man. We must look deeper and try to find ways that we can detail meaning for even those who struggle to understand our deeply symbolic word.
