Terrorism Strikes Deep: Two Months Later

The day that forever changed the world and the United States. The day when two 110 story buildings became enviromentally destructive piles of rubble. The day when 6,000 people lost their lives. The day when 280 million Americans lost many of the most important civil liberties, they have taken granted for so long... Sad...

In America we have a formalized system to bring around change in America, that should be used—blowing up buildings isn't part of it.

It has lead to great fear on America, and large amounts of pollution. Dozens of toxic chemicals where released into the air by the leveling of those buildings, and arces of land will now hold the rubble of the once tall buildings. Even if we can't always agree pollitically or ideologically with the World Trade Center, it's just not right tear it down.

We must rebuild the World Trade Center. It must be bigger and better. Society must go forward. It's the only way.

Then there is Anthrax. Scaring millions of people is wrong, as it killing innocent people. Working to destroy the enviroment, by creating more waste and inefficenty is also a true sin. Please stop. In America we have a better system.

The War on Terrorism scares me. War is the destruction of large amounts of land, and the enviroment. It's the slaughter of large amounts of innocent of people. It's the ending of civil rights and liberties. War is destruction of America and abroad, political disent becomes treason. It destroys our economy.

War is Destruction. It's as simple as that. We have a system, it's not perfect, but it allows for change. However, at this point, war on the terrorists is the only way to get peace with them. It's sad that war has to be often used as a tool for peace, but that is how it sometimes works out.

While we are war, we can't stop all of our policies. They must be continued in full. War machines must fit all United States pollution policies, and weapons should be designed to minimize enviromental destruction, and the killing of people (innocent or guilty). If they are guilty, we should not just slaughter them, but bring them to full justice, as soon as possible.

That means that all disent and opinions must be heard, no matter how crazy they are. As Humphrey once said, "The Right to Be Heard, Does Not Automatically Include the Right To Be Taken Seriously." But more up to date, and more applying to the current situation, President Bush said something the world should listen to (including the Republican and Democratic parties), "And every nation must have avenues for the peaceful expression of opinion and dissent. When these avenues are closed, the temptation to speak through violence grows."

The government must actively:

Unforently the following has been happening :

Ending of Attorney-Client Privledge, Secret Evidence (Defeated), Secret Government (Presidential Records / Not Honoring FOIA Requests), Court Stripping, searches without annoncing warrents (to spy on Democrats?!), Student Records at any whim of the Government's Request, Indefinite Detention of non-citzens with minor VISA violations, reduce protections against Internet and Telephone Warrents, Large Scale Domestic Intelligence, and of course Torture for Innocent Suspects...

See this Moscow Times article for more, or the American Civil Liberties Union's Safe and Free webpages. I agree with the ACLU 100% on this issue.
