A billion dollars. 6,000 people could still be alive tonight. A war could have been avoided. We could have saved billions of dollars. We could be at peace. What is he talking about? Had the United States done something about the root cause of islamic fudamentalist facism, we could have prevented the September 11 attacks.

The root cause is poverty. Poverty is a terrible thing. People live in shacks. People starve. People have no sanitation. People live in highly toxic areas. The need for food and shelter are the most basic needs. Yet in the 21st century, for billions of people, we have not anwsered that question.

What does this have to do with a terrorist attack? When people can not get the most basic of needs, hate grows. Hate of anybody and everybody. Ghettos where people starve, are dangerous with crime. The Nazis came to power when people were despriate. When you are despriate, even the worst solutions seem better then nothing. Who cares, if you give all your civil liberties, if you can eat and not freeze in the winter.

If we work to end international poverty, we can prevent September 11. Our enviroment will be cleaner. It will save countless lives, and many more civil liberties and rights of those in the world. Please work to end poverty in world. It's the only truely patrotic thing to do.
