Airport Security: Keeping Me Off Planes

Airport security is scary. Do I want people inspecting me that carefully, especially if somehow I could cause them to run a background check on me or I somehow step out of line.

While profiling is illegal (thank god, we don't need to go back to the days of legal descrimination), we know that airport security still does that. You don't have to be a black to be watched particularly careful either.

Don't Step Out of Line

If you step out line slightly, seem in a hurry, or for some god reason fit 'the profile' of some crazy terrorist, who knows what the heck they will do to you. They could make you revile some really embarrasing details about your past, make you totally unpack you luggage, steal your property, make you late for flight.

Of course that is the least of things they could do to you, if for some reason you step out of line. They could detain you—forever. Put you in jail, take away all you rights, all without telling anybody, and not let you go. It's not clear if that applies only to non-citizens, or if it does to anybody. Just for looking the wrong way.

And who knows, if they will find some charges to post against you, that are totally fabricated. All with a secret jury, evidence that doesn't exist or is made by the FBI, and more. It's not like the FBI has not done this to it's political opponets.

Scared to Ride Airplanes

I'm not really that scared of terrorism, I know that the chances of another terrorist incident are very unlikely.

Call me paranoid, but I'm am more afraid of being watched and being harrassed by security. As I've stated above, you don't know what will set them off, it's not clear if they will not use terrorist statues to harrass and harm the rest of us.

When your being watched, as a criminal, you know they are going to find something wrong with you sooner or later. That's a fact of life. Everybody breaks a law after a while—I don't even want to know how many crimes I have committed today, what their fines and jail time add up to.

The risk of being harrassed by security is too high for me, to take the risk. I'd rather just stay home, or drive with my car where I need to go. Do I really need to go that far away, or can it really be done around here?

Security sucks.
