Many groups call themselves non-partisan. All too often that is little different then calling yourself a liberal. Groups who claim not to represent the interest of any political party, have their own interest. When it's not clearly labeled as conservative, it's usual liberal.
Similiarly, many moderates are actually liberals. They claim to be in the center of politics, but their leftism is obvious to anybody who looks hard. It could be argued that this is due to our country going so far to the hard right. Does anybody remember Rockefeller Republicans? They where moderate in their day, but now they are liberal.
Non-partisan politics are silly. All politics are partisan, from the dog catcher race to the school board. When we try to hide labels we do both candidates and voters a diservice. We should know who groups and candidates associate largely with and then give them the power of the party to clearly share their message.
