More on Ethanol v. Corn for Cows. Grist has another article on the issue between using corn to power our cars and trucks, and the to feed animals.

It's an interesting article, but this article notes sensibly that it's more of a readjustment of the markets then the world coming to an end. It costs more to buy grain to feed cattle, but ethanol is also keeping fuel prices down and providing new markets for corn farmers.

And for the rest of us, it pushes the greater use of other feed stocks for animals—such as hay, which obviously is far healthier for animals anyways. Growing your own seems to avoid some of the problem, but certainly the readjustment of markets is going to hurt some people more then others. P'Link
