Rural U.S. Takes Worst Hit As Gas Tops $4 Average. Areas with long commutes and low wages are hurt the most by high gas prices. P'Link

Temps Rising, But So Are Sales of Wood Stoves Because of Oil Price Spike. Not surprisingly, now that heating oil is so expensive, many people are making new investments in non-oil technologies, including outdoor wood furnaces, pellet stoves, wood stoves, and coal stoves. P'Link

Senate Candidate Don Barber Calls for Drilling Moratorium. He is concerned that landowners don't know their rights nor is the environment protected with the rush to drill for natural gas. P'Link

NY Tomato Growers Happy About Being Unblack Listed. They note that local tomato's are safer then those imported. Too bad tomato's really don't grow much around here except in heated greenhouses this time of year. P'Link

Soaring Diesel Costs Strain Farmers, Fuels Worries. Long Island Farmers talk about the problems they face with high energy costs. P'Link

Malta Fights Horse in Residential Subdivision. While Samantha Pellerin wants to bring her horse from Charlton to her family's 10 acres in a residential subdivision, some in the town are questioning that decision, who feel a horse is not appropriate in a residential area. P'Link

Trees Do Their Best Work With Thermostats at 70. Apparently by using leaves and their bark, they control their temperature quite accurately. P'Link
