It looks like the National Democratic Committee is joining us in fighting Sweeney and getting voters to think about an alternative:
The commercial, which cost the committee about $60,000, criticizes Mr. Sweeney for his positions regarding the war in Iraq.
It states, “When it comes to Iraq, John Sweeney says: Stay the course with George Bush.”
It continues: “But in Congress, Sweeney voted against expanding health care for reserve and National Guard soldiers coming home from the war. Sweeney even opposed a bonus for troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, after voting to raise his own pay. Stay the course with John Sweeney? Only if you want more of the same.”
This shows that Sweeney is in real danger, despite what some of the polls are saying, and despite that raving lunatic known as Alan Chartock and his WAMC network.
It looks like Jeanie Pirro has gained a view percentage points in the race for Attorney General, but Andrew still has a 20 point or so lead.
While it's not anything new that Spitzer is the first governor to fully support Gay Marriage as a candidate running for office, he reiderated that point to Empire Pride Agenda dinner last night.
The same complaint that was the deal breaker for the West Side Stadium seems to have resurfaced again with Shelly saying that the Mayor's attention he's been giving to redeveloping the West Side has ignored the concerns of his district, specifically that pit still left after more then five year old anniversity of September 11th.
Shelly has a point here. We haven't done anything on the WTC site, and Bloomberg certainly hasn't been aggressively been pushing for reconstruction in that now scared site. Yet, it's important to move on, to keep progress moving on while we remember those who died on that tragic day. Yet, we can't continue to live on September 11th forever.
As a side now, did you see the NY Post has redesigned their website after half a decade of nearly the same design? I'm not sure how much I like the new graphics heavy site. Also, note how Shelly looks in that picture. He's really starting to age, New York Politics can really take a toll on people.
This is another good one from the TU blog that shows some the mailers that Denny Farrell's people are sending out. I don't know, I'm sure some Republicans would be just happy to drink to Sweeney and the President on the way to chucking the mailer in the burn barrel.
I mean child molesters. The only problem is it's bad when you send out a brochure trying to accuse Democrats as being soft on child molesters when it seems your own party has it's own sex scandal that seems to be reaching up to the highest level.
The whole Mark Foley thing is so sad. He sent some emails that he probably shouldn't have, and he probably should have lost some of his Washington perks over it, and the Republicans should have condemned him. Some people probably would have tried to make a few cents about it, but it would have gone about as far as the William Jefferson ordeal.
