SUNY Seeks Yet Another Tution Increase.

It looks like our state university system is seeking to get more money out of students to deal with inflation or actually the lack of reasonable state support for SUNY. It should be interesting to see what the NYPIRG types have to say about this and whether or not our next governor will embrace this proposal.

My position on tution increases is the same as the past. It's not really fair to ask everybody else to pay for a bunch of liberal brats to go to school. There are a lot of people who are struggling to get by, and to ask them to pay more is wrong. There are also a lot of people undeserving to be in college, and too many people who are wasting a lot of time of college. But do they deserve lots of debt?

On the other hand, I'm not a real fan of increasing tution, and I think the state needs to ensure that people have access to higher education. On the other hand, I'm not sure how much we want to burden taxpayers with tution increases, particularly the working class. If we could implement a fairer tax system, similiar to what we had in the Rockefeller years, then we could both fund SUNY and reduce people's taxes.
