Individual No. 85

Monday Once Again.

So it would appear once again. There are 21 session days remaining in this year, and next Saturday is my sister's graduation from SUNY Oneonta. She is getting her B.A. in Psychology, and I look forward to going down to Oneonta. Road trips are fun.

I need to get some new photographs for my blog starting next week or maybe the week after. I'm running of photos that I've taken recently that are of high enough quality to be worthwhile to upload. I also got a lot of new fodder finished for the blog so hopefully I won't have to be rushing to put things up at the last possible minute.

Went to the Tulipfest on Saturday for a few hours, helping the Save the Pine Bush booth get set up. It was hot. I left and went home, taking my bike on the bus rather then riding. I worked on trying to figure out how to fix my bike's deraileur chain guard without spending a lot of money. Thinking about using a frisbee (!)

Went out to Five Rivers on my bike. Met my parents there for dinner and ice creame in New Scotland. Got stuck waiting for the train at the railroad yard. Rode back home over New Scotland South Road and Route 85.

Sunday got up early, went to Partridge Run and Renselearville. Attended a political organizing session for a local candidate. It again was hot and I was feeling lazy. Seeing all that green after being in the city for so long was nice. Stopped at my parent's house, gave my mom a great big flower basket and funny card, had some burgers.

Got home, went for a walk. Spent some time writing. Went to bed, got up, and went to work. And here I am now, back on a Monday once again. Monday, Monday.

Good Evening.

I just got back from a bike ride to Walmart to pick up a few items. I really don't mind riding on the Delmar Bypass / Route 32 that much with the wide breakdown lane. Plus Walmart has good prices.

I also got some of the fodder uploaded for the next few days and weeks for the blog. Tommorow's fodder hasn't been written yet though, as I want to talk about Friday's bike to work day.

Beautiful evening out here at the library, sitting out on the bench in front of the library. Too bad the library is closing pretty soon, so I probably should head home and get ready for my evening walk.

The mountains are such a beautiful lush green color I note as I look out the window from work today. I wish I could be out in the mountains right now. I'm looking forward to my trip to Oneonta to see my sister graduate and move on Saturday. It should be a lot of fun—I probably will take Route 7 all the way down, and explore some more of those little towns.

I hate work, I hate being indoors. But I shouldn't complain when I'm making $110 or so dollars a day for what I do. It's great working for the state and having benefits, even if your stuck in front of a computer, and not outside where I'd much rather be.

Warm Out There.

So the little thing on the computer says. I don't know as I haven't been outside for a while now.

I'm still in a little bit of a shock over the DEC proposed burn ban. It's pretty sweeping, even more then I expected. Those hearings should be excited.

That combined with the Basic Reservoir proposal kind of bugs me. Too much government. Take away my matches. Keep me from going to the backup reservoir for a walk. Bullshit.

I'm feeling a little bit sick.

Tonight is the DFA-sponsored 21st Congressional District candidate debate. I will probably stay for a while, and then either go over to the Save the Pine Bush dinner for a bite to eat or go home.

I know who I'm supporting in the 21st district, and I have little interest in hearing more. It will probably be just two hours of political bullshit.

It looks so nice out there in the mountains. I want to be there and not at work. All this time in the city is making me increasingly sick.

Defensive Driving Class.

That's where I am on break from, trying to get my 10% discount over the next three years in car insurance. That's about $15 every three months—not a lot but not bad as the class cost me only $10. It adds up though—$29 x 3 years x 2 a year = $90.

If something I learn or are refreshed helps me avoid a single accident it could be even a bigger savings.

I don't drive much, so I hate to pay so much in insurance for a vehicle that sits idle all week. Plus I could always use a little bit of a reminder of how to drive a bit better.

That said the instructor is so boring and the videos are so cheesy.

Last night was the DFHMR debate with the Congressional Candidates. More on that later on Cowboy. I rode my bike work tonight, although I have to stay late for another work-related training.

Enjoy the rest of your day. More updates hopefully this afternoon.

Done with All That Training!

My god was the defensive driving training this afternoon long. Then I had to go to another work-related training class at 4 PM this afternoon that went on until 6:30 PM. I mean, wow.

Defensive Driving was so boring and tedious and stupid. Like I need to know what to do if I'm carjacked, in Albany of all places. Or how to protect myself at the hell known at that mall. I wanted to learn how to become a better driver, and not a bunch of bullshit about personal protection.

The instructor for my other class wasn't so bad and I got to meet some of the highest ranks of the people I work with (my bosses' bosses' bosses' boss or something like that).

At any rate I'm home and getting ready for the weekend. I'm looking forward to going out to Oneonta, even if the weather turns out only so so. I'm looking forward to taking Route 7 through all those small beautiful towns from Schenectady on down.

A little John Denver music for the night. Here's Take Me Home Country Roads:

Laundrymat Blogging.

I just thought I do a little blog entry while I wait for my wash in the washing machine and watch the rain come pouring on down.

Today was okay at work, although it was a long day. I am tired but looking forward to going to Oneonta tommorow. I love seeing the open country and actually getting out and driving—something I do so rarely these days.

I really need to get out and do some more pictures. I think sometime next weekend I will run out of new pictures to feature. I already know some of the Route 360 pictures I've been showing are a few weeks old, and nowadays there is a lot more grenery on the trees.

Traffic races by at the four corners, and the washing machines do their things. I have to pick up some beer and a few groceries at the store tonight after I get done in about five minutes.
