The ramp up to the bridge over the Hudson can be very slippery when it's wet. While I didn't get into an accident, the BFG All-Terrians I have in my truck don't handle that great in the rain and I started to slide.
It's so easy to drive to fast in the rain. I've seen too many accidents caused by people driving faster then the safe speed in the rain and crashing into other cars or into the median. There is no reason for these accidents that are clearly caused by unresponsible accidents.
I've never been involved in an auto accident, and I don't plan to get into anytime soon. Yet, it's a danger we must always be vigilent about and be ready to correct the vechicle with the proper amount of force when things change.
I was riding on my bike on water street at lunchtime the other day and paying attention to traffic I caught my right peddle on the curb. That forced the bike to make a hard left and I fell off.
Just got scratches, and there wasn't any cars coming right way. It was painful and I got a skinned knee, but it could have been worst with broken bones or a broken bike.
So I need to watch out for those curbs. Bike riding still is great way to get around the city, despite the danger that is real. Another person actually died on the other side of the collector-distrubtor on Broadway-Quay Street.
