Careful Out There... It's Icy. For the second Monday in a row it's been a rather icy one out there with freezing rain. It was a fun trying to navigate my icy driveway at the apartment to Elm Ave and then to Delaware Ave.

I somehow missed the 8:30 bus into the city. Maybe I was running late or the ice slowed me down too much. I must have waited 10 minutes for it, then gave up and went back to my apartment. I started chipping the ice off my truck, until I realized this was a stupid and futile effort. I knew the 9:00 bus would be there in about 10 or 15 minutes, so I went inside to warm up.

I caught the 9:00 AM bus into the city, and it got me to work only about 15 minutes later then usual, as the traffic is much lighter after 9 AM. I avoided dealing with this icy mess, at least until this evening when I may want to chip things off if there is still scouts tonight.

It's nice to work at a job where it's not a big deal if I come in a few minutes later then usual in bad weather, and not worry about losing money. Working salary is nice, and I probably won't even have to take vacation time to make up for it.

It looks like all of the schools where closed today. I saw a pickup truck spin out in the parking lot next to my apartment (not the one I was parked in), so I guess the weather was quite bad in many locations besides my driveway. The CDTA bus I took in had no problems with the roads, so they couldn't have been that bad in the city.

This is very much so Pennsylvania weather we are getting here in Albany, NY. No snow, but lots of really bad ice and freezing rain. If you don't believe in global warming, then this winter should be making you think more about it. P'Link

Busy Day A Work Today. That's why I didn't get much of a chance to post to Cowboy during the day. Lots of time was spent in spreadsheets doing various number crunching. Didn't even get a lunch today.

The snow was snow amazingly pretty out there today, as was not having to drive. It looks like the snow is over for now, but don't worry they are promising another foot by the weekend. The plows are out there working hard. Around 8" here in Delmar, at my parent's farm they say closer to a 1 1/2 feet.

It was about a half hour delay on the bus coming home tonight, but I got home safely and it was a nice evening. Riders taking the 18 bus rather then the Voorheesville bus likely suffered longer delays. I'm just happy that I didn't have to deal with the snow today, and could just enjoy the beauty as I too mass-transit to and from work.

The big storm is going to come on Sunday this weekend. That promises to give us an additional foot of snow. I'm not going to New Hampshire for exactly that reason. I will be going out on Saturday skiing at the Pine Bush with Save the Pine Bush, and maybe to the hilltowns in the afternoon, depending on the weather. Should be great fun.

So I'm officially a snow lover. Bring it on. We need snowy winters again in Albany! P'Link

Nice Morning Out There. A bit of a reprieve from the snow, although we where getting some sleet out there this morning. The bus stop wasn't plowed, so I was kind of standing out on Delaware Ave, inches from the travel lane.

I made it to work about on time and safely, as usual. CDTA is awesome for doing that—even last night in the snow, the delays where minimal and it was quite convenient getting dropped off right at my apartment.

I will be finishing off my Christmas cards tonight and sending them off tomorrow. I wanted to do this sooner, but with the snow and sheer exhaustion, prevented me from getting this rather necessary task from getting done sooner.

I also will buy some sand for weight for my truck tonight, when I go up to Troy for the film What Would Jesus Buy at the Sanctuary for Independent Media at 7 PM. Should be great fun, once I get the snow off my truck this evening.

Tomorrow I'm going skiing up at Partridge Run, once I get my skiis from my parents house in the morning. I wanted to go skiing for the Pine Bush hike on Saturday, but I won't have my skis for that.

Sunday, I'll probably stay closer to home with the big blizzard coming. I'm not complaining though, as it will be nice to sleep in and relax for at least one day as the snow comes down. I might go to the library, just down the block with my skis or a very careful drive, depending on the weather.

Have a good Friday. P'Link
