Camping in Renselearville SF. I spent my first night of my trip to relax and photograph Southern Scoharhie County at Cheese Hill. It was a beautiful night, and plenty warm. Took some nice pictures, and picked up some more trash from the trail on the way. Drank lots of Pabst Blue Ribbon and Cornona.
Walking down to take some pictures of the mountains, I was taken aback by the beauty. Those mountains are so big and beautiful, and it's nice to look for miles and miles and not see house. I kind of had forgotten how beautiful this country is out here. I have been up here a few times this spring, but mostly running just up here for a quick night under the stars before heading home. I'm spending too much time in the city.
I ended up camping out in the same place off the truck trail that I had stayed nearly a month earlier. It was again pretty breezy there, but nice and warm. I stayed up until 11 PM when I decided to climb into the back of my truck and sleep the night away. The next morning I had to run home as I ripped a contact lens and didn't have one me. I stopped home quickly, took a shower and off I was again. P'Link
Emmence State Forest (Near Blehnium). Drove around the lower part of it (about 7 miles round trip) looking for a good place to camp. A lot of the really nice places where already taken by people. Found a nice place by the road, with ample hardwood supplies around for a nice campfire, but it had two problems.
The first one was being so close to the roads and would mean people honking as they went by at 4 AM. The second was more serious—the catapillars dropping out of the trees. It sounded like rain. They were all over my truck, my water containers, and my boxes with stuff. It was disgusting. What was particularly annonying though was having catapillars crawl down the cowboy hat into my face.
Went for a walk. Found a nicer site under tall Pine trees. Cut up some wood, built a campfire. Drank some more beer. Cooked a nice dinner up. Listened to some country music with lots of static, and the local christan station. Kind of funny to see how the radical right sees our world. Sat by my fan. Nice night, lots of stars.
Next morning packed up relatively quickly as I wanted to see the parade in Middleburgh. Skipped breakfast. Nice morning out. P'Link
Touring the Northern Catksills and Photographing. Drove out through Greenville then onto Route 81 and up McCafferty Road to get some pictures of the Catskills. Had my polarizing filter to play with, so I got some pretty blue skies and some rolling fields.
Then it was off to Cooksberg and Scott Patton Road. That's one of my favorite roads for taking pictures on as it has some fantastic views of the Northern Catskills. A bit hazy so I couldn't get as good photos as I would have wanted and the sun wasn't quite right. Afternoon pictures would be better. Took the truck trail up through the back of the Scott Patten State Forest.
Went through a section of rural Scohahire County Road that was truly beautiful just above the valley where Conesville. There was a big bike ralley in front of a neat old farm house with a lot junk out front (my kind of people :). Took some pictures but the scatter off the haze up these high meant they didn't come out well.
Started down past Broome Center and the road down to Scoharie Valley. Stopped to take some pictures of a couple of particularly pretty farms and houses. Wanted to end up in Fultonham, made a wrong turn and ended up near Middleburgh. Went down to State Forest outside of Blehinum known as Emmence State Forest. P'Link
