Altona State Forest. Went up towards Lake Alice, but made a wrong turn and ended up by Altona. Went down towards where I thought the forest, and ended up exploring part of Altona SF. Followed interesting dirt road, and the state land was a mix of swamps and very shallow rocky soil. It's not surpising that the state got this undesirable land for agriculture. P'Link
Camping in Clinton SF, Lake Placid, Union Falls. Camped out on Saturday night in Clinton State Forest off of truck trail. Walked up the truck trail, after it got steep. Didn't want to take truck up with broken spring. Built a nice little campfire, cooked some dinner up, and enjoyed the food. Had lots of Corona.
Next drive drove down through Ausable Forks, Jay, Wilmington Notch, and up to Lake Placid. Walked around Lake Placid, looked at Olympic auditorium. Stopped in Ray Brook at APA head quarters briefly, then through Saranac Lake. Got a bunch of pictures. Spent the night outside of Union Falls in another state forest on a truck trail. Built a small fire. Grabbed more pictures, and headed back home. P'Link
