The Troopergate That Never Goes Away.

It seems like the State Senate is doing everything they can do to milk out the Troopergate scandal and try to dig it into the governor as much as possible. And yes, their concerns and complaints have some legitimacy.

It clearly was an abusive of power by the governor and his people to have been trying to discredit Bruno by playing up the story about using state planes to attend largely political functions. He denies knowing about it and has subsequently firing or punishing his accused staff after finding out about what happened.

Of course it's not like Spitzer to not know about something going in state government. Spitzer really knows the issues, and is pretty good at finding out what is happening. Whether or not he actually is willing to stand up to his staff and tell them not to do something he doesn't like is another thing. He probably remained quiet even when his staff where doing such things.

Bruno has every right to look into this matter, and to hold hearings to find out more about this so-called abuse of power. Of course I doubt that Bruno and his people don't try to abuse the media in similiar ways to get their message out to the media.

And to set the record straight—Spitzer never used the state police to spy on Bruno. What Spitzer (or at least his staff who are taking the blame for it) did is specifically collect records and police accounts to release to the media and make the Majority Leader look bad. That was probably questionable to say the least, but it wasn't exactly the governor spying on the Majority Leader.

At the end of the day, it's all just politics in an superheated conflict between the Governor and the Senate Majority Leader. Someday, both of those kids will grow up and get out of their pissing match and work will get done in Albany. Spitzer needs to learn that Bruno will be probably be there for a long time, and Bruno needs to go along with the governor more on the important issues of the day.

NYS Democratic HQ Move in the City.

And they have a catchy email to boot.
